Razzak is the 'Mahanayak' of Our Era on His 83rd Birth Anniversary
Kohinoor Akhter, widely known as Suchanda, is a celebrated actress from the 1960s who fondly reminisced about her collaboration with the legendary actor Abdur Razzak, also known as "Nayak Raj" in Bangladeshi cinema. Their partnership began with the iconic film *Behula*, which marked Razzak's debut as a lead actor and became an instant hit. Suchanda reflected on their first meeting, where Razzak, overwhelmed by the news of his casting, touched the feet of Zahir Raihan, the director of *Behula* and Suchanda’s real-life partner. This collaboration led to over 30 films together, making them one of the most beloved on-screen pairs in the industry. Suchanda spoke highly of Razzak’s dedication to acting, noting how he continually refined his craft and became a master of every genre, excelling in both romantic and social dramas. Their films, including *Shuorani Duorani* and *Jibon Theke Neya*, were hugely successful and remain cherished by audiences, with songs from their films still remembered today. Suchanda emphasized Razzak’s influence on the industry, stating that he set a benchmark for what it meant to be a leading man in Bangladeshi cinema. Though Razzak is no longer with us, Suchanda believes his legacy endures, comparing his influence to that of the iconic Uttam Kumar. She described him as a "Mahanayak"—a great hero whose contributions to the film industry will never be forgotten. Suchanda also reflected on their other successful collaborations, including *Moner Moto Bou* and *Osru Diye Lekha*, while also highlighting her own achievements, such as winning a National Film Award for producing and directing *Hajar Bochor Dhore* in 2005.
