Tamim calls on BPL to resolve payment disputes
Fortune Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal has called for an urgent resolution to the ongoing payment disputes in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), warning that these issues could damage the tournament's long-term credibility. He highlighted how the non-payment of players and some questionable actions by franchise owners have tarnished this season, making it one of the most controversial in BPL history. Tamim expressed his frustration over players having to negotiate for their rightful payments, noting that while the issue hasn't been fully addressed, he hopes steps will be taken to resolve it. He also pointed out that these issues not only harm the reputation of the BPL but also send a negative message internationally, making it harder to attract foreign players to the league. In addition to the payment concerns, Tamim believes that the BPL's scheduling and team structure need reform to enhance the tournament's quality. He mentioned that the original October-November window was more ideal, as it did not overlap with other major T20 leagues, like SA20 or ILT20, and was easier to manage. Tamim also suggested that reducing the number of teams in the BPL could increase competition, making the tournament more competitive and motivating domestic players to perform better.
