Apu Biswas also excluded from inauguration event
Following the social media controversy involving Mehazabien Chowdhury in Chattogram and Pori Moni in Tangail, actress Apu Biswas faced a similar obstacle when she was barred from inaugurating a restaurant in Dhaka's Kamrangirchar area. Despite the event being promoted on social media, local objections arose when news of her participation spread, leading to protests by religious clerics. The matter escalated to the Kamrangirchar police, prompting the restaurant authorities to cancel Apu Biswas's involvement in the event. Although Apu Biswas could not inaugurate the restaurant, she went ahead with inaugurating a showroom in Keraniganj the previous day. The restaurant, which was scheduled to open with Apu Biswas, eventually opened without an official inauguration. This incident follows similar cases involving actresses Pori Moni in Tangail and Mehazabien Chowdhury in Chattogram, who faced resistance while attending opening events. Kamrangirchar police OC Amirul Islam explained that objections from religious clerics, particularly from over two hundred madrasas in the area, led to the cancellation. They threatened unrest if Apu Biswas proceeded with the inauguration, prompting the restaurant owners to prioritize maintaining harmony and avoid potential conflict.
