The authorities of the Bangla Academy shut down two stalls at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair on Sunday afternoon for selling sanitary napkins. The decision was made because the stalls were offering unauthorized products at the fair.
The stalls, operated by the brand "Stay Safe," which specializes in female and child health and hygiene, had been selling sanitary napkins at the Suhrawardy Udyan section since the start of the fair. However, the book fair's organizers clarified that no products other than books and food are allowed to be sold at the event.
Bangla Academy Director and Book Fair Committee Secretary Sarkar Amin confirmed the closure, emphasizing that the policy applies to any unauthorized goods, not just sanitary napkins. Following the closure, the stalls were covered with black cloth.
